As teens move toward independence, their behavior reflects a natural process of individuation: testing limits, seeking more control, and trying to define who they are.
When this process is misunderstood, interactions can quickly fall into patterns of:
escalation
disconnection
repeated conflict
This workshop focuses on helping you understand what is happening underneath your teen’s behavior, and how to respond in ways that support both connection and guidance.
Part 1: Understanding and Responding
In this session, we will:
Understand the developmental tasks of the teen years
Recognize the difference between guidance and control
Learn how power struggles develop, and how to step out of them
Explore ways to maintain connection while setting limits
Introduce practical tools for communication, problem-solving, and cooperation
The goal is not to eliminate challenges but to use them as opportunities to support your teen’s growth.
Part 2: Refinement and Deepening (May 26)
Two weeks later, we’ll come back together to reflect on what happened in real life:
What shifted in your interactions?
Where did power struggles still show up?
What was harder than expected?
What helped even slightly?
We’ll refine how to apply the tools, based on your actual experiences, and deepen your understanding of how patterns in the relationship develop over time.
What this series focuses on
This is not about controlling your teen’s behavior.
It is about:
building mutual respect
improving communication
reducing unnecessary power struggles
helping your teen develop responsibility, problem-solving, and cooperation
Because the challenges you are facing are not just problems to solve, they are opportunities to build the skills your teen will carry into adulthood.
This is for you if:
You feel stuck in repeated arguments or power struggles
You want to stay connected while still setting limits
You’re unsure how much control to hold or let go of
You’re looking for practical tools that can be used right away
$95 for both sessions
An early registration rate of $80 is available through April 30.
Space is limited to allow for discussion and reflection.
